Part Sorting
Sort parts by area (largest first)
Parts are sorted in descending order by their area. Larger parts are placed first, which helps create a stable foundation for smaller parts to nest around.
Bottom-Left-Fill
Greedy placement starting from bottom-left
Each part is placed at the lowest available position, then moved as far left as possible. This creates a compact layout by filling from the bottom-left corner upward.
Collision Detection
Fast bounding box checks
Uses efficient axis-aligned bounding box (AABB) collision detection to quickly determine if a part can be placed at a given position without overlapping existing parts.
Rotation Testing
Try multiple rotation angles
Tests allowed rotation angles (0°, 90°, 180°, 270°) for each part to find the best fit. Rotation is determined by part classification and user preferences.
