The story behind Sheet2Nest
Sheet2Nest started with a problem we experienced ourselves: making sheet nesting, material estimation, and costing easier for small and medium-sized fabrication shops.
I'm Abdul Rahman, founder of Sheet2Nest. I have a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Project Management, and I also run Moon Steel Fabricators, a custom stainless-steel fabrication business.
A few years ago, we introduced laser cutting into our operation. One of the challenges we quickly faced was nesting.
We were doing much of the nesting manually, while good professional nesting solutions were expensive. At the same time, material waste directly affected our costs, and we needed a better way to know how much material a job would actually require.
That information was also important when estimating jobs and preparing quotations for customers.
With my background in computer science and project management, I decided to research the problem and build a solution ourselves.
I developed Sheet2Nest using my technical experience and AI-assisted development, starting with the problem we needed to solve inside our own fabrication business.
What started as a solution for nesting evolved into a broader workflow for material estimation, reporting, costing, and everyday laser-cutting operations.
